ARTIST STATEMENT

Ash is an interdisciplinary artist, death doula, land-worker, and podcast host whose practice explores the relationships between the spiritual sciences and human culture. Through sculpture, installation, earth-works, diagrams, performance, and painting, Ash engages with the complex regenerative systems of living and dying that underpin our material and immaterial worlds. Drawing upon ancient knowledge systems, Ash examines the ways in which symbolism, mythology, and ritual traditions provide insight into lost mediums of understanding both life and death.

Her practice is centered around energetic thresholds— honoring cycles of creation and decay. She explores the life force energy that activates creation and the transformative process of composting, returning to the continuum in new forms. Ash is guided by the relationship between what contains us and what we contain, what feeds us and what we feed, and the energy axis between creation and death—portals through which we shape-shift and change form. This work is a deep meditation on what is bigger than the self and the sacred exchange that underpins all living things.

In 2024, Ash founded CHANNEL, a platform for facilitating conversations and workshops that explore the spiritual nature of creative practice. As a podcast host, she guides dialogue around the intersections of art and spirituality.

Before founding CHANNEL, Ash spent over ten years as a UX Lead and Qualitative Researcher for major public sector initiatives in New York City. Her research and design leadership in accessibility, equity, and inclusion helped shape large-scale projects such as the NYC Department of Education’s online application system and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Innovation and Technology’s MyCity Design System, a platform providing city residents with access to essential services.

Currently residing in Kingston, New York, Ash’s work, is a pursuit of human potential—cognitive, spiritual, and material—that contributes to a more nuanced understanding of ourselves and our collective power.
